James noted that on every project there were numerous independent contractors such as electricians, plumbers, AV engineers, security contractors, gate automation contractors etc. These contractors would always conduct the design of their individual systems independently or worse still, it would be outsourced to architects or M&E consultants with little understanding or practical experience of the products in question or the installation and integration process. Consequently James observed numerous easily avoidable problems and a consistent lack of a central coordinator with overall responsibility.
